Gus Nall, 40" x 30"
This painting was a generous gift from T.E. Dunne. It sat in his collection for quite some time, and in a periodic apartment cleaning he decided to donate the piece to my collection. Interestingly enough. some three or four weeks after recieving the painting, I came upon a similar work by Mr. Nall in an antique store for about $35. I decided against the purchase because I reasoned that one Gus Nall was quite nice, but two paintings that looked so similar in style might be a bit much. On a return trip to the antique mall two months later I noticed the same piece in a different dealer's booth with a newly marked price of several hundred dollars and the words "Gus Nall - Listed African-American Artist" written on the tag. Listed or not, I still stand by my original contention that one Gus Nall is more than enough.....
