It took me one hour to prepare my camping gear. The decision on where to go was just made right before I took off. Destination: ORTONVILLE, the mysterious campground.
I was lost in the area, after driving for +/- 15 miles, I found out that Ortonville was actually abandoned. The place is only open during the day.
I got some information from one of the guys at Gary's Cabin @ Ortonville. Just like the last time we went there, the people at Gary's are very helpful. I decided to go to Metamora Hadley instead, because the time was +/- 21:30, very late.
After a long ride through the woods and tractor paths, I arrived @ Metamora just to find the place was full. I was about to step on the accelerator pedal when I figured that probably I should check /w the ranger. I was not optimistic about this one. I talked to the ranger and asked him for any empty campsites.
I saw him looking @ the map of the area with labels indicating occupied sites. Looked like all sites were full. I asked him about the fate of Ortonville. He mentioned that since the merger of the administrators of Ortonville, Metamora, & Bald Mountain, Ortonville was closed for camping.
He probably felt guilty about kicking out a lost & lone traveller who didn't look like a fellow American. He decided to let me stay at one of the available sites here. I couldn't say anything but "Great!"
Here I was by myself at my campsite. After all difficult times in Detroit, I hoped this would help me put everything together and start all over again, beginning from the square one. We made mistakes, what mattered was not how we regreted our past but how we tried to live with it and move forward.
