There will be one point in your life, where you try to convince every part of yourself, except the brave ones, that you must stop.....
And if you continue, you will be successful ....
Hey, I found these words very moving. At the same time, I want to give them more thoughts. Where does one stop? I ponder this question often. I think if we keep asking the right questions, we will stumble upon one of the last questions to ask, like what do we want to do in our life. But, I will leave this one for yourself. One thing I want to say is that you've gotta do your best. That way, at the very least, you meet your own very personal challenge.
Well, OK, aside from my thoughts above, I'm sure you want to know more about me. Here is my story:
Ketut Wiadnyana, that's my name. I was born in Central Java, and I spent most of the time growing up in Borneo (Kalimantan). That is a great island. I love the rainforests so much. My parents are Balinese, so, inspite of the fact that I spent only two years in Bali for my H.S., I am a Balinese. After all, knowing how beautiful the island is, who wouldn't want to call it home? It's just that something with the island that simply puts you in trance.
Whenever I visit Indonesia, my home, I never really felt that I am on vacation until I hit the strait of Bali. Crossing the strait (normally the bus arrives at the ferry at dusk) I can see the shillouette of the western coast of the island, with some sparkle of lights of the villages near the shores. I'm sure these families are trying to finish up the chores, trying to get ready for the night. Hmm ... I can almost now remember the smell of the wooden stove where my aunt prepares 'hot' balinese dinners for me. It's this time of the travel where I can see that the darkness slowly tighten its grips on this island. But in actuality, the darkness is the friendly giant, who refuses to give up its secrets .... and beauty. You will discover that there are a lot of mysteries in this island.
Bill Norris, my former roomate, pointed out one day, that of all places
in the world, I chose to come to Detroit. I like to compare this as me,
coming out of paradise (in Bali) straight into ... well .... hell. Hey,
just kidding! Detroit isn't all what people say. You see, inspite of the
post-industrialistic, and economically depressed outlook (of the city),
you just have to find out things for yourself. "Can't just listen to what
people say", I mumble. Yes, I am here with an original mission to finish
my BS in electrical engineering, and then my MS. It seems that now, the
mission has grown into this malleable, formable gooey that shapes itself
in response to the challenges of time. Well, stay tuned, I don't think
the adventure stops here in Detroit.
