Amateur Radio Station KC8PPD and YB9BWN

Welcome to my radio station page. The following is my station information:
Operator: Ketut Wiadnyana
Callsign: KC8PPD / YB9BWN
Station: ICOM 735 into a 80m doublet using an z-match tuner with a keyboard keyer (or vibroplex road warrior).
Beacon: Homebrew, 2W into a horizontal dipole. Beacon info page is here.

In Bali, Indonesia, I operate as YB9BWN, with the above station setup. The mailing address is as follows:
PO BOX 3171
Denpasar, BALI 80031 - INDONESIA

In the United States, I operate as KC8PPD. The mailing address for KC8PPD is as follows:
14781 Memorial Dr. Apt. 1714
Houston, TX 77079
USA

I operate CW 99.978%. I while I enjoy rag chews, the small number of local CW stations means that I do mostly DX QSO and they rarely do rag chews. Most likely this is due to the fact that English is spoken very little in DX countries.

While I try my best to keep the old amateur radio tradition, exchanging QSL card is a difficult proposition for me in Bali. In the USA, it is relatively easy to exchange QSL card with DX stations. The postage cost (in 2005) for DX, is around .80 USD, or it is equivalent to about 1/5 (one fifth of a McDonnald's meal package. In Bali, the postage cost for DX is around 20,000 IDR, or it is about three times what it would cost me to buy a noodle lunch. Here lies the problem with accumulating cost just to exchange cards via snail-mail with DX stations.

Right now, it looks like the internet (LOTW, eQSL) offers the most cost effective solution. The bureau in Bali works too, but slow and I am not sure in terms of reliability.

Thanks for checking out my callsign and I hope to see you again on the air, CU es 73.
